Ford Mustang Mach-E Review 2021

Even though the name Mustang symbolizes thirsty, V8-powered muscle cars, Ford bravely decided to introduce a new kind of wild horse. This one runs on electricity, has two extra doors, and can even match its petrol-powered siblings’ performance. The Mustang Mach-E is one of the hottest premieres of 2021 and very much in demand amongst EV buyers. Designed as a Tesla Model Y competitor, Mach-E looks much more dynamic with a similar dashboard layout but with more drive train options. The Mustang fans were offended when Ford announced this model, but it seems that the gamble was worth it. The company received 41,000 reservations, of which over 9,000 were from buyers in Europe.

For the UK market, Ford is offering several trim and power levels starting with standard Mach-E with 379 miles of range (est.), rear-wheel-drive, and 290 hp for 40,350 pounds. Next on the list is a very competent Mach-E AWD with the same base spec but with permanent all-wheel-drive and slightly better performance. The AWD model costs 46,650 pounds and comes better equipped than the standard version.

Currently, the top-of-the-line version is Mach-E First Edition, which cost substantially more at 58,080 pounds and offers an AWD drive train with panorama roof, luxury interior, leather upholstery, premium audio system driving assist technology, and much more. Even though the price is relatively high, Mach-E is better looking, more dynamic, and more interesting than the comparable Tesla model. However, Ford is saving best for late 2021. The Mach-E GT model should be a muscle car amongst the electric SUVs with 3.8 seconds to 60 mph, a performance-oriented AWD system, and even better interior equipment, higher price, and slightly shorter range.

Mach-E’s interior is dominated by two displays, one smaller in front of the driver and one larger on the center console. This architecture is common amongst the latest electric vehicles, and a touch-sensitive central display controls almost all functions of the car (climate control, heating, and so on). Since Mach-E is a mid-size SUV, interior space, materials, and usability are very important. Fortunately for Ford, the well-designed interior is practical. There is enough room for passengers in the rear. With 402 liters of the luggage compartment, Mach-E is the same or slightly less than its competitors.

Even though the electric SUV segment was never a particularly exciting class of vehicles, Mustang-themed EV’s appearance makes it more appealing to buyers. No longer you have to sacrifice the looks and image of a performance vehicle if you want to drive an EV. With Mach-E, you can have the zero-emissions as well as legendary muscle car heritage all in one, well-rounded, well-designed, and a quite competent package.
