Volkswagen e-Golf Charging Cables

The Volkswagen Golf is one of the most popular small cars of its era. It is an ideal small car for people looking for a city run-around while some models also appeal to those looking for something sportier. The car is also available in a plug-in hybrid version, the Golf GTE. Despite its fairly small size, this car is also very practical and suitable for a lot of families.

The Golf GTE is no longer in production but that doesn’t mean you can’t still pick up a used model. Its all-electric range is around 20 miles which is just fine if you use the car as a run-around. It also comes with features like an infotainment touch screen and a range of optional extras are also available.

The Volkswagen Golf is optimally compatible with a 3.7kW charger, which takes a 16A charging cable. Charging from empty to full will take around 2 hours and 15 minutes. This car is also compatible with 7.4kW, 11kW, and 22kW chargers but these will not charge any faster than a 3.7kW charger. Fast-charging is not available for this car. It can also be charged from a standard outlet and this will take around 4 hours from empty to full.

This car will usually need a type 2 to type 2 cable for charging. If charging from a mains socket, a 3 pin to type to cable will be needed. The charging socket is located on the front of the car behind the Volkswagen badge.
