The XC40 Recharge comes with a 75 kWh battery pack with a dual motor powertrain. It is reported to have a range of 208 miles on a full charge. This is sadly lower than most similar new entrants into the market. This all-wheel-drive option is however quite quick on the uptake, achieving an acceleration of 0-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. Its regenerative braking system accommodates one-pedal driving.
This EV comes with the standard Type 2 connector that can achieve a full charge using 11 kW AC power in just over 8 hours using a wall charger and a type 2 to type 2 charging cable. It can also accommodate fast charging with a 151 kW DC charging achieving 10-80% charge in just 32 minutes but this method of charging is not available at home.
For charging using a standard UK socket you can purchase, a 3-pin to Type 2 charging cable, this will charge your car at 10amps and give you 2.3kw.
You can drive up to 28 miles purely on electric power with the Volvo XC40 Recharge. The cost of this charge will vary depending on your agreement with your energy supplier but on average to fully charge the XC40 Recharge Plug-In Hybrid it will cost around £1.03.
In keeping with Volvo tradition, the five-seater XC40 Recharge comes with a range of excellent tech and safety features that make this model one of the best options to join the luxury subcompact SUV class. Buyers can expect to benefit from rear parking sensors, automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and a semi-autonomous driving mode.
The XC40 Recharge is the brand’s first fully electric luxury SUV that features a boxy exterior shape with clean lines and sharp adaptive LED headlights. This striking design is well complemented by a stylish and spacious cabin space. It has multiple storage cubbies, rear heated seats, and standard leather upholstery. Textured metal trims and driftwood accents help give this model a luxurious feel. The infotainment system is controlled from the 9-inch touchscreen over the centre console. It has however been reported that this system has proven troublesome to use in earlier models.
